Our Mission
Each local church has a mission to accomplish as well as a vision. Many people do not understand that there is a difference between vision and mission, but there is a difference. The vision is like the rudder of a ship. The vision shows us where we are off course. We can evaluate the direction we are moving to by determining whether it is moving us toward the destination God has given for us to go. We ask ourselves, “Does this match the picture? Does this match the dream?” The vision holds the church on course. If the vision is the rudder, then the mission is the sail. The mission is the instrument that will actually propel the local church towards its destiny. The word for “spirit” in the New Testament is pnuema. This word means both “spirit” and “wind”. The mission is the sail that the spirit (wind) of God can use to move the church toward His own purpose!
Definition of Mission:
Mission is the reason for the existence of the local church and is set forth by Jesus Himself in scripture. The mission is the purpose of the church. The mission is the value that the church lives out loud together- strategically. The mission is the engine that drives the church.
Jesus gives a clear picture of the mission of His church on the Earth. Jesus lays out the core of the church’s mission in Matthew 22, the Great Command, and in Matthew 28, the Great Commission. All healthy and power-filled churches will fulfill this mission of Jesus in their own setting and culture. By doing this, the church brings the Kingdom of God in power.
The Mission of All Nations Church:
Seek. Share. Serve.
Seek: The first part of our vision has multiple facets. Firstly, we will passionately pursue the presence of God together! His presence is commonplace among us, and we strive to make Him feel at home! Secondly, ANC is a place where anyone can seek Him; without judgment or fear. We are here for the community around us, and creating an environment where God can break the hardest of hearts and mend the hurting is a priority. Let's seek Him!
Share: We share our lives together through the faithful attendance of corporate service, but also in the ordering of our lives around LIFE Groups (Small Groups). We believe that Christians are to share their lives with each other, have a meal, hold each other up in prayer, meet each other's needs and most importantly, help one another look more and more like Jesus everyday. For more information on LIFE Groups - click here.
Serve: Last, but certainly not least, we believe that as we mature into the image of Christ, we are to develop a life's order of servanthood. Whether it is serving as LIFE Group leader, worship team member, a BBQ Evangelist member, a youth sponsor or a nursery worker, we are all to serve! But it doesn't stop there- living a lifestyle of service to the Kingdom requires us to bear up the responsibility of helping others to SEEK. A mark of a mature Christian is one who is contagious with the Spirit of God; it is a value of ANC to bring in the lost & hurting, bring them to wholeness and help them become a Kingdom producer, not a consumer! This is our destiny, and we will see San Antonio changed in our lifetime.
The heart of our mission as a church is to live out loud the values of Jesus. The heartbeat of Jesus is the very heartbeat of All Nations Church. We want to make Jesus and His Kingdom famous to the culture around us. It is by living out these three areas of Kingdom power that we will accomplish our mission together!
